Well I am now 3 days past my due date and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little munchkin. Liz, whose due date isn't until the 20th, went into labor on Saturday morning and welcomed little Dan into the world 2.5 short hours later. Last Saturday my little sister had a similar experience and after 3 hours of labor Mr. Rowan was the newest addition to our family. With all of these births happening around me, it is making it even harder to be patient. We have a doctor's appointment on Monday and if I haven't gone into labor by then we will schedule me to be induced on Tuesday or Wednesday.
On Wednesday Tim unexpectedly had the day off and decided to do some redecorating in the nursery. He wanted everything organized and put together for me by the time I got home from work. He is absolutely in LOVE with a blanket (as am I) that a good friend/little sister made for us. He thought it belonged on the wall and hung it up. I have to say, initially I was opposed to the idea but it just looks so darn cute. If we have a boy, this is definitely staying up. If we have a girl, I think I might want something slightly more feminine, but for now it can stay put. I just appreciate that he took the time to think it through and do this for me. It was such a nice surprise to come home to a spotlessly deep cleaned house and a put together nursery. And seriously, how cute and creative is this blanket????
I decided on Thursday morning that it would be my last day of work. I'm still feeling great, I have ample energy and moving around isn't a big issue, but I just couldn't concentrate at work anymore and I had everything set up so nicely that I was bored out of my mind. In addition, there was just so much to get finished at home and after a full day at work, I didn't have the energy to anything. Friday morning I slept in a bit and then did some last minute errands...took the last of our returns back, went to the salon to stock up on some hair product, and did my grocery shopping. When I got home I made some baked ziti and froze half of it for when I'm too exhausted to cook and made around 2 dozen breakfast burritos that are individually wrapped and ready to pop in the microwave when I need a hearty meal, but just can't pull one together.
I also finished a couple of projects. I wanted to keep all of the cards that people have given to us and saw this idea on pinterest. It was really easy to just punch holes in the cards, make a cover using some cardboard and card stock, and then pull everything together using binder rings. I ended up make 2 because there were so many!
Yesterday I could tell that Tim was in desperate need of some outdoor time so I told him we should spend the afternoon fishing. The look of relief on his face made me laugh out loud. We packed up the 4Runner and headed to the Siuslaw. When we got there Tim was fiddling around with things I sat in the car and read my book until he was ready. I started seeing flashing spots in my eyes that looked like glitter and my head was killing me. I knew these were signs of preeclampsia and I got a little nervous. I told Tim and he hopped in the car so we could drive to where there was cell phone service. I called my little sister who confirmed that I should probably call my doctor. The doctor said it was hard to tell and it could either be dehydration or a sign of high blood pressure. I knew I wouldn't be able to relax until I knew for sure so we turned around to head back into town. I knew Tim was really disappointed, but I just didn't want to risk it. We headed straight to Fred Meyer and took my blood pressure, which was completely normal and meant that I was just dehydrated. This didn't make Tim too happy since he is constantly on my case about drinking enough water. Oops. I've been chugging water like a maniac for the last 24 hours. Lesson learned. He went out fishing this morning before meeting his dad at the golf course, so I don't feel too sorry for him.
